END OF AN ERA

March 28th will mark the end of an era for Motcombe Community Shop as Kay Francis retires as Shop Manager after 15 years, that’s as long as the shop has been open in community hands. Kay along with the committee and volunteers, but mostly Kay, has made the shop what it is today.

In recent feedback we have had great comments including ‘Great staff! Great products! Amazing veg! Brilliant coffee!’; ‘Super shop. Love it!’; ‘It has everything you need and more besides.’ People are always amazed at the variety of food and non-food products we have in the shop and how many of them are locally supplied. Over the years Kay has made the most of the products that are within a 25 mile radius of the shop.

Kay will be greatly missed as not only has she been excellent at managing the shop, she has been a contact point for many people in the village, particularly those who live on their own. Although retiring from her role as Shop Manager she will remain volunteering on the Shop Committee but will now have more time to pursue her own pastimes and take longer walks with her dog, Alfie.

Kay is relinquishing her role to Paula Hibbens, who currently works on the Post Office counter. Paula comes with a wealth of business experience and a big smile and we are sure will bring her own experience and personality to bear on the shop in the future.

We wish them both well in the future. An old era ends and a new one begins.
