Refurbishment of the forecourt is now almost complete, with the resurfacing done, the pavilion back up, now with see-through walls, and tables and chairs in place. We just await the heating and lighting but we’re open for coffee, tempting goodies and the like – and you don’t have to wear a mask because you’re still out in the bracing fresh air – but sadly you do inside the Shop. This Saturday we will have the first of our weekly Christmas Hamper Raffles. Tickets are on sale in the Shop and the draw will take place at 11.00 on Saturday IN THE PAVILION. Come and have a flutter.Once the lighting and heating work is done we will revert to asking Post Office to wait in the pavilion until the Post Office counter is free. This is to prevent over-crowding in the Shop and has taken on new importance with the prevalence of Covid infections in our Post Code and especially the new Oh My Cron strain. We know it’s a pain but would be grateful for your cooperation – for your safety as well as that of others. The issue of the moment in the Post Office is customs declaration forms, which now have new rules. The value and weight of each item contained in a parcel must be shown on the declaration form. The total weight of the package will no longer suffice. If in doubt, seek advice from the Post Office or visit www.royalmail.com before sealing up your parcel. If you try to fudge it and get it wrong, you may find that some apparatchik somewhere will open the parcel and send it back to you at your expense, or just ditch it – what a pain! Best to get it right to begin with.
